Effective with the ICANL's April 1, 2008 application deadline, digital raw data will no longer be required for case study submissions. As of April 1, 2008, the preferred method for submitting case study documentation is as processed image data in digital image format, on CD or DVD. The following data must be submitted:

1. Movie of planar projection images

2. Reconstructed stress-rest slices (gray scale and color)

3. Quantitative data, polar maps, etc. (optional)

4. Movie gated SPECT slices

5. Gated SPECT slices in end diastole and end systole

6. LV volume curve and calculated LVEF

Applicant laboratories are instructed to submit all images utilized in the interpretation of a study by the physician.

Laboratories may submit screen captures of static images such as JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group), TIFF (Tagged Image File Format), or BMP (Bitmap Digital Images) files, or they may submit equipment specific images, with an embedded, image-specific reader included (i.e., DICOM). Movies may be submitted as MPEG (Moving Picture Expert Group), AVI (Audio Video Interleave), QuickTime or Windows Media Player.

If laboratories are unable to submit digital images, they may submit high quality black-and-white and color copies of processed images on paper.

To be in compliance with The ICANL Standards, "the facility must be able to transmit current or archived patient studies to an outside, non-affiliated entity in a format that is of interpretable quality." (Standard B6.1.6.5)

Note: All case study documentation, whether on CD, DVD or paper, must be submitted in duplicate.
