Online Accreditation: Coming Soon to all IAC Divisions
Spring 2008
Recent technological developments have taken the IAC into a new age. During the past year, the IAC has developed a brand-new online version of the application entitled Online Accreditation. This innovative online format was created to replace the Application CD and all prior printed versions of the Accreditation Application.
Trying Something New
In October 2007, the IAC first launched Online Accreditation for ICANL, making this exciting new format available to the nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology and PET laboratories. The response to Online Accreditation in its first six months has been overwhelmingly positive. Laboratories have found that it greatly improves the application process in many ways.
The Online Accreditation application is extremely user-friendly. Each applicant laboratory receives a personalized User ID and Password in order to access the account at any time. Online help is provided throughout the application. Most questions provide links to related Standards. The new format helps applicants track their progress in completing the application. And submission has been made easier and more efficient. Much of the application can be submitted without printing; most attachments can now be submitted in either electronic or paper format, whichever is more convenient.
Another major advantage to the new online format is the accessibility of the application data. Because data is retained within the online format, it may be worked on consistently between accreditation cycles, by multiple users. It may be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection, allowing the convenience of working from the laboratory as well as offsite locations.
Taking the Next Step
Based on the success with ICANL, the IAC will launch Online Accreditation for each of its other divisions - ICAVL, ICAEL, ICAMRL, ICACTL and its Screening division, CAMS - throughout the course of the next year. Please stay tuned over the weeks and months ahead. More details and information will be provided as it becomes available, via email and the IAC websites.
